SANCTUARY

This started out as a song about the plight of endangered Indian Elephants.
It has in the meantime come to be about the plight
of all endangered species,
including those elephants.

I made a collage of Wildlife Photos and Hoofage taken by Grahame Reinthal & Family on their trip to Africa
and set them to my song. Sydney Australia's Taronga Zoo is a wonderful place to come visit - set on the harbour with spectacular views. The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee is also fantastic - they do such great work.... Norma

SANCTUARY

Words and Music by Norma Martin © 2003

 Sanctuary
Sanctuary
I need peace
Sanctuary

No more chains or sea of faces
Grassy plains wide open spaces
Where I can be free to roam
Sanctuary I can call home

 Sanctuary
Sanctuary
I need peace
Sanctuary

 Never knew to be free
On our own my friends and me
Ev’ry time you had your way
Every time I had no say

All these years at your volition
Inner tears silently wishin
That somewhere streams and shade trees
Would call me home…Oh

No more chains or sea of faces
No more noise wide open spaces
Sky and breeze and canopy
Somewhere I can run free
Sanctuary
